So what is a Giclée print?

The word Giclée (pronounced “g-clay”), is derived from a French verb essentially meaning “to spray”, in this case referring to the ink dispatch. Giclée art prints retain tonality and hue meaning that the colours remain stable. Not By Design use Ultrachrome® HDX technology to produce all our Giclée prints. These include up to 12 Aqueous all-pigment colours. As a result of the high number of inks, we can achieve superior colour arrays. We only print our artworks on archival quality fine art papers as they will not yellow over time.

So what is a digital print?

General digital printing uses printing technologies which have a reduced number of colours and are much less precise. They are often printed on non-archival papers and as such have a much lesser lifespan and are more prone to rapid deterioration.

Taking care of your artwork

To maintain the quality and depth of colour of all artworks on paper it is widely recommend that you do not keep or hang in direct sunlight.

Framing - You are purcasing an unframed Giclée print. We want this artwork to bring you joy for years to come so we recommend professional framing. Giclée prints hold their colour intensity well and are fade resistant however for best protection of the work ask your local framer about UV protective glass or acrylic when obtaining a quote.
